NEW JUVENILE STAKES WINNER – EXCITABLE BOY

Breednet – Tara Madgwick

Champion
two year-old sire More Than Ready (USA) started the day with a new
stakes-winner after the Danny O’Brien trained colt Excitable Boy captured the
Listed VRC Festival of Racing Stakes at Flemington.

Showing the benefit of race experience, Excitable Boy found the line strongly
to beat Northern Meteor filly Mount Zero by a little over a length clocking a
brisk 56.67 seconds for the 1000 metres.

It was the fourth start for Excitable Boy, who had shown ability when
stakes-placed behind Kuroshio in the spring.
“He is a horse that has always had plenty of ability,” O’Brien
said.

“Nothing went right for him last start. He got in real trouble the whole
race and today Noel (Callow) kept him out of trouble.  “It was good to see him let down like a
good horse.”

A $75,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Highgrove Stud
draft, Excitable Boy is likely to chase some Magic Millions money and head to
Adelaide for their two year-old classic race on Monday week.

Excitable Boy is the second foal of Sequential,
an unraced half-sister by Lion Hunter to juvenile stakes-winner Get to Work
from the family of former top mare Shania Dane and HK Group I winner
Scintillation.

Sequential had a colt foal by Show a
Heart last year and was subsequently covered by Sebring, her yearling colt by
Charge Forward to be offered at the Magic Millions QTIS Sale as Lot 200.
