A $700,000 colt topped the list for Westbrook’s Highgrove Stud during a buoyant 2017 Australian Easter Yearling Sale at Sydney’s Newmarket complex this week.

The sale saw a record 17 yearlings top the $1 million mark with the sale average price coming in at $355,875.

Highgrove had a complete clearance of its six lots.

Its Exceed And Excel colt out of Fragmentation was purchased by Hong Kong’s A Ng for $700,000.

Highgrove also had a Redoute’s Choice-Fate Rules filly bought by Scone stud Kitchwin Hills for $500,000.

The popularity of Exceed And Excel stock continued with another Highgrove colt out of Emotional Circus picked up by The Hong Kong Jockey Club for $420,000.

Three more Highgrove lots were sold for prices at or above the sale average after fetching prices of $400,000, $375,000 and $350,000.

Warwick stud Canning Downs sold two lots including an I Am Invincible-Fuji Dancer filly which was knocked down for $440,000.

It also parted with a Pierro-Mithila colt for $260,000.
