ANZ Bloodstock News – 10 March 2014

Having her first start in stakes company yesterday, the Sam Kavanagh-trained Interspersed (Sebring) did not disappoint putting up an impressive effort in taking out the Canberra Guineas (Listed, 1400m)

Ridden by Jason Collett, Interspersed was slowly away from barrier eight and settled near the rear of the 16-horse field.

She was forced extremely wide rounding the home turn and was still a long way back on straightening but she produced a powerful finishing burst in the centre of the track to score going away.

Bred by Ron Gilbert’s Highgrove Stud, Interspersed was sold at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale to her trainer for $145,000.

It was also a timely win for Highgrove Stud who are selling Interspersed’s half sister as Lot 194 (Click here to view Pedigree) by Fastnet Rock at this years Inglis Easter Sale.

The winner of two of her four career starts, Interspersed (3 f Sebring – Scattered by Tale Of The Cat) is now on an ATC Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) path and is likely to head to the Keith Nolan Classic (Gr 3, 1600 m) and Vinery Stud Stakes (registered as Storm Queen Stakes) (Gr 1, 2000m).

Her dam is the unraced Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat) mare Scattered who is a half sister to the Group One winning sire Wanted (Fastnet Rock) being out of the Listed winning mare Fragmentation (Snippets).  Scattered has produced three winners from the foals to race to date.  She was covered by Pierro (Lonhro) last year and has a More Than Ready (Southern Halo) weanling.
