FOXWEDGE and She’s a Fox’s half-sister Limerock Lass
added to the growing list of high-quality foals on Ron Gilbert’s
Highgrove Stud near Toowoomba when she foaled a filly on Sunday.

Gilbert bought Limerock Lass (by Rock of Gibraltar) at the
Magic Millions national broodmare sale in the winter, not long after
Group 1 winner Foxwedge (by Fastnet Rock) had been retired to stud and
before She’s a Fox (by Fastnet Rock) added to the family’s black-type
value by winning the Listed Rosebud at Warwick Farm.

Gilbert paid $210,000 for Limerock Lass in foal to Manhattan
Rain, the half-brother to Redoute’s Choice. “Her filly is very correct,
and of a size you would expect a first foal to be,’‘ Gilbert said.

The filly was the eighth foal for Highgrove this season, and follows
other fillies by Redoute’s Choice from US-bred Tears I Cry, closely
related to Street Cry, and by Fastnet Rock from Wanted’s half-sister
Scattered and a colt by More Than Ready from Listed winner Anacarde.

Limerock Lass has been booked to be covered by More Than
Ready this season. However, Gilbert has backed his judgment in Foxwedge
by sending another of his broodmares, Valadon (by Woodman) – a sister
to Group winners Timbourina and Media – to Newgate Farm in the Hunter
Valley to be mated with Foxwedge. Valadon left on Tuesday.

Accompanying Valadon on the float were Listed winner Stormy Miss (by
More Than Ready) and Mozambique (by Redoute’s Choice), who will be
covered by Snitzel and Charge Forward at Arrowfield Stud.
