RON Gilbert is developing a blueblood family around Shrapnel’s dam Fragmentation at his Highgrove Stud, near Toowoomba.
Fragmentation (by Snippets) is the dam of this year’s Group 1 Newmarket Handicap winner Wanted (by Fastnet Rock), who has started his stallion career at Eliza Park in Victoria.
Shrapnel, who won the Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes in Adelaide in February, is destined for a stud career.
And there are a few more from the family to come, because at Highgrove, Fragmentation and her daughter Scattered (by Tale of the Cat) are soon to foal to Street Cry and Sebring respectively and Fragmentation’s half-sister Figmentation (by Commands) has a month-old colt by Charge Forward, making him a three-quarter brother to Shrapnel.
Figmentation was mated with Snitzel at Arrowfield Stud yesterday and Fragmentation and Scattered will be covered by Arrowfield’s Redoute’s Choice and Coolmore’s Fastnet Rock for this season.
