Behind, But Only Just
Melbourne - 27 January 2007
Touted as having more than her fair share of ability, the Tim Martin trained General Nediym filly Behind did not disappoint when she led all the way in the Listed MRC Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield on Australia Day, only to be run down in the last stride and beaten a half head by Beauty School.
A flashy chestnut with a white blaze, reminiscent of General Nediym’s Group One winning daughter Regimental Gal, Behind was tackling the Black Type event at her first public appearance without the benefit of a barrier trial and race experience probably cost her the win with Beauty School seasoned by a couple of stakes placed performances in the spring.
A $230,000 purchase for Tim Martin from the draft of Highgrove Stud at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Behind is the third foal of stake-placed Rory’s Jester mare Happy Spring, a full sister to Group Two winner Happy Giggle.
